Known as the Queen of the Hebrides, Islay is a small island of around 3000 people. Like most Scottish islands, Islay has strong fishing and farming traditions, but what sets it apart is its whisky-making heritage. Islay is world famous for its single malt with a distinctive peaty flavour, and there are currently ten distilleries operating on the island, with another two in development. Scottish Gaelic is still spoken on the island, taught in the local schools and celebrated through music.

Although most often associated with whisky, Islay has much much more to offer and is a real hidden gem waiting to be discovered. There is stunning scenery, abundant wildlife, miles of empty beaches, lots of fascinating history and amazing local produce. We want to share all of this with you through our designs.
